Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi there

I have had type 1 for 16 years during which time I have struggled with control, I have also recently been diagnosed with IBD and am finding it very difficult to manage both conditions. My daughter suggested trying a forum for some support, so here I am.🙂

Hi elspeth, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear you are struggling with your diabetes - what sort of problems are you having? What insulin regime are you on? We do have people who suffer both conditions, so hopefully by sharing experiences you can find some ways to improve your situation.

Hello Northener,
I'm finding that I have no patterns the my blood readings, before I got ill I had been carb counting and using sensitivity factors to work out my correction dose, it always worked out, but now.......it's taken on a mind of its own! Lol. I also find following a diet to manage strictures really hard to accept, before that I followed a low GI diet and loved it, now I look at fruit and veg and get angry. I know this seems a bit over dramatic but I'm floundering at the minute. Surprisingly I had a diabetic review last week, the first since crohns came along, and my HbA1c was 62, lower than ever! Sorry for going on a bit, I just really need contact with understanding, like minded people. Thank you for your reply. I'm basal bolus regime with a sitaglipten tab thrown in for good measure.
