Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I am Teresa 44 years old I have been diagnosed for about 2 years with type 2, and now taking 2 metformin twice a day and 1 glicazide twice a day but my last 2 HbA1c were 9.6%, due for another blood test in a couple of weeks to see if the 2nd glicazide has made any difference.

I test my BG every morning and it is very rarely below 10 mmol/l, so I am fighting a battle all day with my BG's, the lowest I have ever had it is 6.9 and this was a one off.

I sit all day at work in a call centre, so do not get any exercise, (I am too lazy to do any at night), I am also very overweight 16st 7lb and enjoy my food, in between meals is one of my problems, does anyone have any snack ideas that don't raise the BG and would fuel my cravings for crisps and/or chocolate.

I don't eat because I am hungry, but because of boredom or other reasons.

I have been reading all my old diabetes books and leaflets to try and get my head round things, and now feel I need some help and advice from others who are in the same boat as me.

Teresa

Hi Teresa, welcome to the forum!🙂 Sorry to hear the problems you are having getting your BG levels down - I hope that the med change begins to show an effect soon. Regarding exercise, is it possible for you to walk part of the way to/from work, or do you travel by car? Just a little each day should help your levels. I tend to eat peanuts as a snack, as they are not high in carbs and have 'good' fat in them, but they are high in calories so you may need to watch that.

hi teresa and welcome to the forum like yourself rarely will i test and be below 10 it is very disconcerting and i try it all i go for a swim i barely eat and still nothing it gets on my nerves , like northner said peanuts is a good suggestion for a snack x

Thanks for the replies

I will certainly give peanuts ago for a snack, but I will have to make sure I only measure out a few to take with me, or I would eat the packet.

Thanks again
Teresa:(
