At risk of diabetes
Hi All,

After a routine early blood test at my doctor's surgery three weeks ago it was found that my fasting blood sugar level was 6.5 and it was suggested I might be prediabetic.

I have cut down sugar and carbs dramatically, lost 3kg, but my morning readings range between 5.6 and 6.8 but two hours after meals they are always below 7.8.

I understand that certain things can affect and make early morning fasting readings unrealistically high. Anybody offer any thoughts?

Thanks

Hi, welcome 🙂

Has your doctor requested an HbA1c test? This is one that looks at the average over the last few months and is considered a more reliable indicator.
