Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I just wanted to say hello. I was diagnosed when I was 27 and yesterday I was 67 so a long term type 1, but this is my first ever post. I contacted the soc today as my old carb counting app no longer updated. Tamsin was so incredibly helpful and now I have bought the carb and cals app which looks incredible. All I have to do know is shed 4stone (well realistically just the 3/4 of a stone that I've put on since my gym closed in lockdown.

Welcome to the forum @singinggardener

Well done on your 40 years of T1. Not long for a DUK medal!

Good luck with the weight loss!

Are you on pens or a pump? Do you carb count? Any fancy gadgets like Libre? Which insulins do you use?

Lots of friendly helpful folks here who have tried all manner of different diabetes tech and options, so fore away with any questions you have, and look forward to hearing your experiences and what works for you.

Hi and welcome from me too.

This is a great place to share experiences and learn about how you can improve your diabetes management. There are people here with even more years in than you who are still picking up tips and learning about new tech options etc.

As regards weight loss, I find following a low carb higher fat way of eating together with a daily brisk walk/run has made made weight loss relatively easy and enjoyable. I live at the bottom of a mile and a half long (and steep) hill though so a daily power walk up that and jog back is a big help.

Hope you enjoy being part of this great community and gain as much benefit from it as I have over the past almost 2 years.
