Hi all, I have been told I am type 3 diabetic due to Necrotising Pancreatitis ( lost over 80 % ) I have recently been discharged from hospital but still drain the pancreas cavity at home . I have been told to gain weight by the consultants at the hospital ( incase of further infections ) but been told to watch my bg by the diabetic nurses . Finding this difficult. Taking Lantus (8 units) at bedtime and Apidra (4/6 Units) after evening meal. Any ideas on how to gain weight.?

Hi grovsey and Owen, thanks for the replies, I think you will be hearing from me again on this forum as it's all new and a shock to me.
One minute walking the dog 10mins later in intensive care and spent over 3 months in hospital and now diabetic. :(

Cheers.

You are most welcome. As you are on insulin, you can also use carbs, just match with insulin and you will soon add some pounds.

Really good luck with your challenge Mikew & welcome 🙂

It's quite a conundrum isn't it. I eat lots of cheese and cream - though due to my strange innards (or lack of 😱) it barely touches my cholesterol🙂
