Hi, my name is Dorsetbelle, I am pre diabetic, diet only, but am going off the rails lately need help and suggestions to keep in track, thankyou

Welcome @Dorsetbelle 🙂 What diet/target have you set yourself and how are you going off the rails? Are you getting hungry? Craving certain foods?

Hi there, I know it’s a shock but finding out you have prediabetes before full blown diabetes is an amazing opportunity! There are so many people on here who can help you so much! Did the doctor give you a number (your hba1c) you could just be dipping your pinky toe in and some simple adjustments at this stage could be life changing xx

Hi @Dorsetbelle and welcome to the forum.

When you say 'diet', do you mean Very Low Calorie Diet such as the Newcastle Diet or the 800 Blood sugar diet (both of which aim for limiting to only around 800 calories per day. Or do you mean a Low Carbohydrate (as many calories as normal) Way Of Eating?

Both of which are known to work for around 40% to 50% of Type 2's.

Hi Dorsetbelle, welcome to the forum.

Glad that you found us as getting support when first diagnosed can make all the difference.

We’ve got lots of info on the site which may be helpful including this info page https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/enjoy-food/eating-with-diabetes/i-have-type-2-diabetes.

It might be useful to keep a diary of what you eat for a week and then modify based on the information you gather.

If there’s anything specific you need help with, do let us know.
