Type 2
My type 2 journey spanned diet , then pills and still on metformin. Successful on Victoza for years but since the shortage I have been switched to a basal insulin , one injection a day, called Xultophy. Still finding my way with appropriate dosage esp since I am reducing carbs too.
Self funding a CGM which has proved very useful in raising awareness of which foods spike my glucose.

Welcome to the forum @Taighnamona

How long have you been living with diabetes?

I’ve not heard of Xultophy

It seems to be a premixed combination of Degludec insulin, with Liraglutide (a GLP receptor agonist)

I’m not sure we have anyone else on the forum who uses it!

I’ve been diabetic since 2002. I’m 75. Visited my gp with a painful knee from jogging and came out with diabetes!! She asked me to participate in a screening test they were doing. In those early days I unfortunately followed their high carb/low cal dietary guidance and made things so much worse and that cycle continued for many years.
Last year I let things slip and indulged in too many sweet carbs treats and my A1c rose to 67 from 48-52. Prior to that Victoza had worked well for me. Maybe that’s why they suggested Xultophy.
It’s certainly working and I titrated up as needed and am actually titrating back down as I lower my carbs. I’ve been on it 6 weeks.
I’m now 95% in range with an average of 6.2 mmol and predicted A1c of 38. I have to wait til March for my next one. I suspect it will likely be around 45 which is way better control than I had.
Purchasing a CGM has been an eye opener for example I had no idea that my favourite lentil homemade soup spiked my glucose into the stratosphere.
