Relationship to Diabetes
Hi guys, I'm new to this and it's my first post,

My brother in law was diagnosed 5 days ago with type 1... now why I'm posting is 2 out of the 5 days he's been sick when he's had his insulin, he's on nova rapid.... I was just wondering why this could be? He's eating when he's having it and not having more than he should

Welcome to the forum, GemmaBays.
Do you mean that your brother in law is vomiting soon after injecting Novorapid (short acting insulin)? As he's so newly diagnosed, he should be in close contact with whoever started him on insulin, so it's best for him to seek advice from them. When he's got used to managing his condition, he can learn "sick day rules" about how to adjust insulin and food / drink when ill. He's almost certainly also taking a long acting insulin as well, probably once a day.
By the way, your profile says that you have type 1 diabetes, so it might be more appropriate to change to Carer / partner.

Thank you! We're trying to get everything sorted for him, he is taking a long acting one at night and the novarapid every meal time, it is about 15-20 after he's taking it he's being sick. And thank you I'll change it now

Hi. A reaction to insulin is rare but does happen. It sounds like he does need to see the GP and possibly change to another insulin; see what the GP or nurse says.

I need to get him registered to a new go but can't do that until Tuesday, is there anything we could possible do in the mean time?

Tonight, all you can do is phone 111, or if life threatening, go to A&E. Tomorrow you also have the option of finding a pharmacy - one will be open somewhere in each locality, for a limited period. Is he not registered with a GP at present?

He is but they aren't able to do anything until he can't find the deed poll for his name change, everytime he eats he gets stomach cramps, is this normal to begin with?

He needs to be taking his insulin at least 20 mins before he eats 15 - 20 is a very high blood sugar are you sure he isn't suffering from DKA?

Hi. If his sugars are really high when he's eating that could be the cause of his being sick, and the insulin is taken at the same time.

When I was diagnosed I was very sick to be in with. Threw up when I ate. That was because I was high.

If he's being sick, and his sugars are high, then you really need to think about a and e. It's a medical emergency.

If I were you I would go to A&E and get some help now.
