Hi I’m a T2 age 50 on insulin, trulicity, Metformin and Statins. Recent retinopathy has shown maculopathy so now need eyes checking every 3 months. Diabetic nurse was going to put me on mounjaro but can’t because of my left eye. Feeling very low so reaching out willing to listen to any advice. Cheers

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear of your issues.
Perhaps if you give a bit more information about how you manage the various medications and diet as it may be that some adjustment to those may help you without needing the Mountjaro as it is unsuitable.
What insulins are you taking, what is your HbA1C and how are you monitoring your blood glucose on a daily basis. High blood glucose can affect your mood as it has an effect on all the cells in the body including the brain.

Welcome @Stizzles50 🙂 Sorry to hear about your eye problems. There are members here who’ve had eye issues who might have advice for you, and also lots of members who are happy to support you. This is a friendly place and we all know how diabetes can get to you.

What was your most recent HbA1C?

Welcome to the forum @Stizzles50

Sorry to hear of the maculopathy in your eyes. Good that they are keeping a close eye on things for you.

Have you been advised of any treatment that might help stabilise things?

There are some other threads which mention members’ experiences of maculopathy here

Hi @Stizzles50 I don’t think I have myself the exact same eye condition that you have
but can share with you that ive been under the DMO clinic at my local hospital for some time now

I can understand the DSN / GP being concerned of prescribing you Mounjaro
(as they were with me)
I spoke to the consultant at the DMO clinic on the recommendation of my GP
and the consultant was happy to confirm she felt the benefit of taking Mounjaro to my overall diabetic control far outweighed any risk to my eye condition

So I would recommend speaking to your eye dr at the next consultation
Hope things improve for you

My recent HbA1C was 71 I’ve been on insulin. Since 2014 been on Trulicity since 2021. I’ve never been super strict on diet but Trulicity has curbed my appetite. Just think I’m gonna have to proper overhaul my diet. I don’t have a good relationship with food but I’m scared that I’ve let this happen and now I’m worried about the future. They are going to check my eyes every three months now instead of a year, so I know that’s bad. Also recently diagnosed with Non alcoholic liver disease. Since turning 50 in Aug everything gone downhill

I’m on novomix 16 morning 18 night my BG is good usually around 10 waking up then steady through the day 7’s 8’s etc I have a freestyle monitor which helps because I always forget to finger prick . They want to up my insulin but that’ll put weight on me which I really don’t want. I know I’m overweight but I’ve been a hell of a lot bigger xx thanks for replying
