Hi, I'm new here I'm don't know who to ask this question to I've only been on metformin and insulin since Tuesday morning this week and I noticed a boils under my skin I read something somewhere about boils and diabetes and how I squeezed it and it seemed to pop inside my leg and now I'm not feeling to good but I don't know if this could also be my first hypo my Bloods were 29.9 on Monday which the doctor sent me to hospital to the diabetic nurse and she started me on the meds since them the lowest my BS as been is 19.6 which as usually been my first reading in a morning today it was 21.5 this morning before anything to eat or drink. I've jyst started feeling funny and I've checked my BS and it's 23.6 am I having a hypo or could it be something else? Ie the boil popping under my skin? Hope some one can help or point me in some sort of direction

Ok No problem. The way you describe your condition would cause me to phone 111. It depends on how unwell you are feeling. If your feeling really bad use 999. This forum is not really for urgent medical advice. Suggest you take your temp if you can.

No that is not a hypo! I suggest you ring 111, as have boils, you could have an infection.

Hello @Steverpayne

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time.

I agree that it does sound like you need more help - possibly quite urgently.

I think it would be wise to call NHS111. Boils under the skin don’t sound usual to me, and i think you need someone medically qualified to answer your questions.

Have your symptoms come on suddenly? Have you unexpectedly lost weight recently? A waking level of 21 seems very high since you won’t have eaten for hours.

I phoned 111 and I've had a gp ring me back he said he thinks it may be a syst he's told me to speak to. My diabetic nurse tomorrow about it, I know the waking bS is high but I am only in lo doses at the moment moment I have novorapid 3 times a day 6 units and I have tresiba once at night which is 10 units

Hi Steverpayne, just to get the terminology right, being hypo [glycaemic] is when your blood glucose goes abnormally low. Your blood glucose is abnormally high and that means you are hyper[glycaemic].

Let us know how you get on with your DSN because it needs somebody who has all your info to hand to work out the best way forward for you both with regard to your blood glucose levels and the "boils" and to work out whether they are related.

This is why I asked @Steverpayne on his Intro post exactly how long he'd been diagnosed because for anyone newly diagnosed to be given metformin and insulin at the same time and then just sent home to get on with it on his own - does NOT sound right, whatsoever.

So my DSN as increased my tresiba upto 14 units at night today plus I have been given some antibiotics to take for the boils so hope that brings that back under control
