At the end of October I woke up with slightly blurred vision. Fortunately a couple of days later I had a planned blood test and on instinct asked for a diabetes test - I had no other symptoms. My HbA1c was 141 @ 24/10/2019. I was immediately called into the surgery to meet the diabetes nurse. I was given Gliclazide initially as 4 days later I was flying to S Africa for 2 1/2 weeks. I managed to keep my daily readings whilst away to around 10mmol (I was given an Accutest) and on my return had another blood test and my HbA1c was 105 (22/11/2019) so they are moving in the right direction.
I am now on Metformin SR and building up my dose, I have just gone from one a day in the evening (still taking a Gliclazide in the morning) to two a day, one AM and one PM (only taking the Gliclazide if the readings are still high), next week I up the dose again until I am taking four a day.
The wind is terrible - and I don't mean the weather!! Hopefully the side effects will calm down soon and my sight returns to normal.
