So what food do i need to eat?
Normal day would be

Hello Topcat and welcome to the forum!

We're a friendly bunch on here, and are happy to offer advice and encouragement for people who are newly diagnosed
But please, tell us a bit more about yourself - age, whether you're overweight, what advice you've already been given by medical professionals, and if you have been put on any medication; that sort of thing
Don't feel embarrassed, we've all been in that situation

Here are a few pointers & suggestions -

Don't just rely on medical staff; do some homework and try to understand a bit more about diabetes, with the aim that soon you will be able to manage things yourself

Look through old threads & posts on this forum, especially General and Newbies; your questions will almost certainly have been asked before

Get books on diabetes from the library. There might be a slightly different emphasis as times change, and with different authors, but the information will all be essentially the same, and will help you to understand and get used to the jargon

Join Diabetes UK. They have - a useful magazine; a good helpline; an introductory pack for newly diagnosed

To briefly answer your question, you need to reduce your consumption of carbohydrates, so that means sugars, but also starchy things like bread, pasta, and potatoes are out, and from your list, crisps, chocolate, and biscuits
It's not quite as simple as that, but as you read and understand you will be able to make your own judgements

Ask again if you want more information, if not from me, then from other members
