Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi All, I'm a bit of a newbie to knowing anything about diabetes. i was diagnosed type 2 on the 18th December 08. My first blood sugar reading was 21.2 followed by a reading in the surgery of 18.5 then a few days later a reading of 27.1.... Last week it was 9.9 but that was the morning I went in for a fasting cholesterol test.

My previous medical history is:- breast cancer x , cervical cancer and a rare tumour called a Pheochromocytoma which is a tumour on the adrenal gland.

I don;t know what else to write here really and should have read some of the other threads first!!!

Incidentally my meds are Metaformin x 500 mg twice daily and 40mg of Glicazide once daily. It was 80mg but the GP cut it down when I had the 9.9 result

Hi Gina, and welcome to the group! Goodness, I guess you could have done without the diabetes to add to your concerns, but you'll get some great support here.🙂

HI Gina
Im fairly new myself but it is nice to see new members joining in

Hi Gina
Hope that after all you have had to cope with that your diabetes soon becomes stabilised and 2009 is a better year

Thank you all for the welcome, I'm afraid I have been very naughty with food the last few days and been living in denial a bit so now I am hopefully slapping myself enough mentally and will get back on track 😱

I think denial is a common feeling when first diagnosed, I know it happened to me. Now some time later I realise that I might just be affecting my health by not pulling my sox up and have started the new year tackling my diet with a vengence. Good luck and I'm sure you'll find some help and support here, I did

Thank you.. yes definitely have emerged from denial and am being proactive now with my diet... just need to step up the exercise now that my cold has gone..
