Ok you have had a very poor response ...you need some answers ...did you have blood tests ..if so demand the results and post them here so we can try and help you understand what is going on ....
In the mean time try and just avoid all obvious sugar we can explain the more hidden ones later on
Did they put you on any meds ?

Hi pink, welcome to the forum 🙂 I am very sorry to hear about the awful time you have had lately, and also that you seem to have received little useful support from your GP :(

Diabetes is a serious condition, but the really good news is that it is something that can be controlled well, and it may actually end up improving your overall health if you are prepared to learn about it and put a plan into action. I would recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter to give you a good idea of what to expect and how to approach things, and also get a copy of Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, which is a very positive and informative guide to your first experiences with diabetes. Knowledge is the key, and clearly your GP has insufficient knowledge to guide you, so you need to educate yourself. If there is anything you are unsure of, there are hundreds of friendly, experienced people here who will be able to help, so please ask! 🙂

Hi pink in response to your questions on othe thread a hypo is when your blood sugar levels drop too low and hyper is when they too high this can only been ascertained by testing you level with blood sugar meter ....id you get this given to you ...probably highly unlikely asits not standard for t2

I'm sorry to hear you have developed diabetes and that you are so worried. I have had good advice and support from doctors & specialist nurses in the two places I've lived with diabetes, so I still find it difficult to believe some of the poor reports I hear

The horror stories you see & hear are often the media looking for sensational stories. Side effects are not inevitable, so though it does sound easy to say, try to calm down and start to do something about your situation. Unfortunately thanks to the poor service you report, you'll have to do a lot of things yourself. Here are a few suggestions

Look through as many of the threads on this forum as you can manage. Because it's a forum it can be sow progress, but there is a lot of information here. Remember you're not on your own, everyone here has been in the same situation

Learn about diabetes. Go to the health section of your library, there should be several books. Ideas change, and some of the information might be a bit dated, but the basic info will be there. This will help you to understand what's going on and get used to the jargon

Join Diabetes UK ( Used to be called The British Diabetic Association) They have a good advice & explanation pack for anyone newly diagnosed. Also a good telephone help line, though as with everything telephone - ish nowadays you might have to wait & hang on to speak to someone. Keep on it, they're very good & helpful when you do get through.
They should also be able to advise you on your employment situation, though probably not immediately
They also have good magazine

Don't worry about doing injections or blood tests; modern automatic syringes, microfine needles and so on mean it's hardly any trouble at all

You should get a blood glucose meter asap. I's just about impossible to treat and control diabetes without one. My GP gave me one free, or they're not too expensive to buy; shop around a few chemists. You don't need one with a memory or anything, a cheap one will do
Come to think of it, some chemists may well have a free or cheap booklet on diabetes. You could also ask for a private chat with the pharmacist, especially as you don't seem to be getting much support from your doctors

The makers of blood glucose meters are very keen for you to use their machines since they make their money from the NHS when you get prescriptions for test strips. Ask them nicely and they usually let you have one free or very cheaply. I have found Abbott helpful in this way. I think they also have a helpline and booklets. Sorry but I can't find their number at the moment

I think that's enough for the moment, I'll see if I can find some websites and phone numbers for you

Awwww poor you :(.....I am soooo sorry of the lack of help and care you have had, and you have been through an awful time!

All I can do is give you my support and motivation if you wish.

We are all here for you so please rant and rave anything on your mind!! 🙂

Keep going u can and must

Hi pink yes u will be able to drive.
No u do not have to inform DVLA
Please do inform your insurance provider, just to stop any problems later, u do not have to!
There is no reason u can not do your job, it may be right to inform your employer, who knows perhaps they may give u some support after what you have gone through!
Try to get some counciing, try local support groups there should be lists available from your surgery?
Or try the library.

I have been where u are on 3 occasions for different reasons. but we must fight on. You are doing a good job helping others please get yourself some help!
