There are many foods which are high in magnesium so you could add a few things into your diet. Rubbing magnesium gel into your hand helps with the cramps, I use on my calves.
Your GP may prescribe a supplement which would be in a controlled dose as too much magnesium can be just as bad.

I’d suggest eating foods with magnesium in or taking a magnesium supplement. Did your doctor not advise you to do this?
