A MOBILE phone text reminder service is being launched to help Cornwall?s hospitals slash the 40,000 missed appointments that cost it ?4 million a year.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) said the missed outpatient and inpatient appointments will hit 100 every day this month alone. It is concerned about the loss of income as well as not being able to offer the clinical appointments to others.

They've been doing this here in Southampton since I was diagnosed.

They have that up here too... When they remember to send the texts that is!

LOL I rang my GP this morning to make an apt, within 5 mins I'd had a text confirming it and I'll get another on Weds. (Friday apt)

Our dentists were the first to use it here, before I had a mobile, so that's quite a long time now!

Hospital followed, GP is only about 12 months since they started.

I have had texts from hospital for a while here, also get them from gp and hairdresser!
