A NEW drug could be come available on the NHS to decrease skin cancer levels in Plymouth.
Devon has 1,501 hours of sunshine per year compared to the national average of 1,420 and has the sixth highest incidence rate of malignant melanoma in the country.
However patients could benefit from the new drug, dabrafenib, which health officials say should be made available for widespread use on the NHS.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) said the drug can have a “rapid positive effect” on patients with a certain type of melanoma.
