A YOUNG Easter Ross boy with diabetes will no longer have to inject himself with insulin up to five times a day when he becomes the first primary school child in the Highlands to be fitted with a special pump.
Nine-year-old Jack Ross from Invergordon, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes more than two years ago, will be the youngest local child to receive the diabetic pump from the NHS when it is fitted on Monday.
He and his mother Bexy of Ross Court are very excited about the prospect as it will cut out the need for injections and will make his diabetes easier to manage.
NHS Highland?s Paediatric Insulin Pump Service started in April and so far two patients, both older than Jack, have been started on the therapy.
