A new program is underway in Fiji to reduce a surge in the number of foot amputations, linked to the rising rate of diabetes.

A new project is underway in Fiji to reduce the number of foot amputations linked to diabetes.

Diabetes Fiji says the program aims to train around 400 nurses over the next four years.

Diabetes specialist Dr Wahid Khan, who is spearheading the project, says the move is part of a wider campaign to raise public awareness on how to prevent diabetes.
