I have some new pills (sitagliptin). Asked the doctor for when is the best time to take them. He said ask the pharmacist. The pharmacist said read the patient information leaflet.

SO apart from the instruction to take one a day and knowing the possible side effects, I'm none the wiser on the timing. This is to go with the metformin and gliclizide and the blood pressure pills.

My question is when does everyone else take their sitagliptin? And do I take it before (like gliclizide) or after meals? I'm confused!

Only information I can find Caroline is that you take it once a day with or without food, and at the same time each day (which I'm guessing you already know!), so I guess it's best to take it at a time that is convenient for you to remember 🙂 I know we've got a few members on it, so hopefully they can share their experiences.

Don't take it but a quick look via google says take it once a day whenever you like, but stick to the same time everyday, I would suggest you take it with your metformin (do you use a pill dispenser, 7 day ones are good for remembering which day of the week it is).

Thanks. I was thinking of getting a pill dispenser as it is getting a pain to remember pills for work. I have seen some you can get on a key chain.

When did you get your medical degree Caroline? maybe the Dr and Pharmacist are so impressed by your knowledge that they think you have.

I was once asked if I was a Dr because I understood what a Dr was saying to me ...

Not been of much help but hopefully other peoples answers have given you the information you need.

I wish I did have a medical degree Margie. Unfortunately there are gaps in my knowledge. When hubby saw the consultant about his osteoarthritis the consultant wanted to know if I was a doctor or had medical training because I had taken the trouble to find out which exercises needed to be done to help the muscles that support the knees.

Ohters asnweres were indeed helpful.

Can't help, I'm afraid, but I feel obliged to mention that sitagliptin (and Byetta, I believe) is developed from 'lizard spit' .... as my brother is wont to tell everyone in a rather loud voice.

I blame him for me telling you this now! 🙄

Andy 🙂

Maybe that is why we only take them once a day Andy, the lizards only spit once a day...
