Have been saving hard to get my first touch screen smart phone. Settled on a Samsung Galaxy A16 5G It was not a bad price.Got it from Tesco online PAYG. Got it yesterday, opened the box and it didt come with a with a charger. So looked at Tesco web site and it says in very small letters charger not included, we sell this on our accesses page They do ok for £40 or £30 with clubcard. I rang then up and was nice and polite saying im visually impaired which i am. and didt see small print and that i had been a Tescos mobile network customer for 6 years and wanted to stay so. Spoke to a very nice man who said as a good will gesture they would send me one for nothing Hows that for customer service. It pays to conplain.. Was going to ask for some free credit but i got more than I bargained for. It comes tomorrow. Cant wait to be able to set it up Who am i kidding a friend is going to do it for me

Don't forget any usb charger will do. Doesn't need to be a special one for this phone.

It's the reason they've stopped including them with every phone as most people have at least half a dozen usb wall plugs these days...

charger came staff have set up phone changed sim card over for me etc guess whos excited like a child at xmas lol

I was watching a topic like this on YouTube. It’s something to do with being “environmentally friendly” making the packaging smaller & assuming the new owner already has a charger. They do send appropriate cables, though. That’s good of Tesco.

This makes sense.
As I was driving home last night, I was listening to something about reducing waste.
Apparently, the UK produce the second highest volume of electronic waste in the world per population. (They didn't mention who the highest is.)
They said every household in Britain has a drawer full of old phones!
A big part of the problem is the difficulty in repairing electronic/electrical waste. Apparently, in France all electrical/electronic goods have a repairability rating in the same way as we have an environmental impact rating. People look for things that are easier to repair so manufacturers have started taking this into account with their design.

@gail2 sorry to derail your thread.
I hope you are enjoying your new toy. I do not know where I would be without my map, CGM, messenger, timer, alarm, loyalty cards, camera, news, sat nav, ...
You can even make phone call on it 😎
