Hi Pegasus and a warm welcome to the forum, sorry you have to be here and also sorry about the diagnosis of your child, theres a parents section on here which is full of good info and help, have a good browse, also theres a great set of parents on here some have more then one child who is diabetic so hopefully they will be around soon....

Hi Pegasus and welcome to the forums, although like Steff I'm sorry you have to be here. I can think of at least one member who has 2 children with Type 1 and a lot of other lovely people who have Type 1 children. They all do an amazing job and I'm sure they will be able to offer you loads of support and advice. In fact we will all help as much as we can. Have a look in the Parents section and ask as many questions as you like. Take care and keep in touch. XXXXX

Thanks so much for your kind words. I have had a quick look at the parents sections it looks great. I am slowly finding my way round this site at the moment. My first child was diagnosed 5 years ago, she is now 6 1/2 yrs and my son is 5 1/2 years old and newly diagnosed on May 13th - yes a Friday. I just feel so depressed and upset for them. So I thought I would reach out to others for support and advice. Thanks once again, I look forward to using this site more often.

Just a quick obsevation, I hope you don't mind me mentioning it....I see on your info you have put your type as Type 1. I'm guessing as you are talking about your children that you don't have diabetes yourself. Most of the parents on here list their type as Parent/Carer as this better identifies them and other parents can see straight away that it's your children you are asking about. You may wish to change yours to the same. 🙂 XXXXX

Hi Pegasus just thought i would point you in the direction of CWD (children with diabetes) website most of the parents in here use it.... here is the link http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/uk/

Hi pegasus. Welcome 🙂

I can't really offer any advice but there's plenty of T1s who started out early in life and have grown up healthy and happy.

That, of course, doesn't make your job any easier.

I hope you can hook up with some of our parent members to help you along 🙂

Hi, My second child has newly been diagnosed with type 1, anybody out there with two children like mine.

Hi pegasus, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about the diagnosis, it must be a very worrying time for you. There is lots of help out there (and here), though, so hopefully we will be able to help you on the right course to understanding and learning how to manage diabetes well. I would urge you to get a copy of Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults by Ragnar Hanas. It will explain everything you need to know about living with Type 1. Well, maybe not everything, but for those things it doesn't, you have us! 🙂 You might also be interested in getting a free pack from JDRF and the Children with Diabetes site will also be a great source of help and support.

Please ask anything you are unsure of and we will do our best to help 🙂

Welcome to the forum pegasus 🙂

Hi Pegasus

So sorry to hear of the second diagnosis.

I would definitely sign up to the CWD emailing list, there are a few parents on there who have 2 children with type 1 - you are not alone. Everyone is really friendly on the list, it's probably the best resource for day to day support I know of for parents.
