Hi there,
Diagnosed a year ago, got a wake up call this week that my blood sugars way too high. I had no idea and guess I hadn’t actually acknowledged the diagnosis. So I’m here for support and advice. Hi to you all x

Fire away with any questions that you have.
Read around the different threads on here.
Keep in touch.

Sorry to hear about your high HbA1c @clarestu65

Has it changed much since your initial diagnosis? How did yoir diagnosis come about? Were your levels creeping up gradually, or did it all happen very suddenly? Have you been losing any weight without trying or meaning to?

Hope the forum can give you some practical hints and tips to help you manage your blood glucose levels more effectively 🙂

Thanks guys…
Despite really changing dietary intake, levels are still high. Hba1c is 12.1 and my BM has been between 7.3 once and 22 mmols… that was with 2g Metformin and 120mg Gliclazide a.m snd 80mg evening.
Had my first dose of Humulin M3 today, 10 units twice a day.. Fingers crossed eh..
Oh, I have suffered with Hypomagnesemia for last 3 years requiring a 5 hour IV every week, don’t know if this has any bearing on anything x

Welcome @clarestu65 🙂 Hopefully the insulin will help you get your levels down and you should feel a lot better.

Sorry to hear this @clarestu65 :(

What sorts of changes have you made?

If you give folks here an idea of the sorts of meals you are having they may be able to make some suggestions based on their own experience?

Hope the addition of insulin begins to bring your levels down. Has your surgery considered the possibility that you may be LADA (slow onset T1) rather than T2?
