Hi Nessa, welcome to the forum 🙂 How long have you been diagnosed and how do you treat your diabetes - injections or a pump?
 
June 2010 I was found in a coma I had no idea I was diabetic I use pen tips 5 times a day two types of insulin

Goodness! Had you been ill? Glad to see you survived! Most of the people here are from the UK, but it is always nice to meet someone from across the water 🙂 If you have any questions, please ask away! 🙂
 
I had been sick for years but no one could figure out why, they even said it was not diabetes and just meds making me so thirsty turns out I keep having pancritis and I have gastroperesus and now neuropathy so bad I can barely walk I just spent yet another month in the hospital I am also a brittle diabetic.how did you get diagnosed? Pump or needles?
 
I'm very sorry to hear this :( It always astounds me how a diagnosis of diabetes can be missed when the tests are so simple.

I got sick with what I thought was a stomach virus and ended up in hospital when I reached a point where I realised it wasn't getting better, but worse. It turned out I had DKA. With me, I had symptoms for about 18 months beforehand, but hadn't realised, then the virus pushed me over the edge. I'm on injections.
 
I really wanted to get a pump before but the pen tips for the injections are so tiny now I am getting used to it

Yes, everyone who doesn't have diabetes thinks that having to have injections must be the worst thing about it, but really the difficult bit is knowing how much to inject! 🙄

However, we have a member with gastroparesis who has found that a pump really helps, so might be worth considering again?
 
The needles aren't fun but they are no where near as aweful as I thought they would be in the beginning I was terrified now I am fine poking my finger is what bothers me if the kids are around I get them to do it then I don't have to push button 🙂
 
Hello Nessa, welcome. 🙂 I'm a Canadian as well, originally from Southern Ontario but transplanted to the UK as a teenager - 30 years before becoming a T2.
