Hello everyone have been lurking here for a while and thought I would take the plung and register the forum and site looks great I was diagnosed with t1 diabetes at 12 years old I am now 32 I have been struggling to control my diabetes for a while now I can't remember when I lost control I am trying my hardest to get my diabetes under control I am now using the freestyle libre 2 sensor and scanner to help me control my diabetes sugar levels seems to be helping me as I absolutely hate the finger prick test I know I still need to use the finger test which I do still use when my libre tells me I am high or low I use my finger prick test to double check hope my diabetes is more under control at my next hospital appointment

anyway sorry for rambling first time I have spoke about this to be honest

Hey Fizz88!

Welcome to the forum!

Being in here does make it easier to talk about things and there’s a wealth of information and experience amongst the folks here. There’s no need to apologise for rambling. And trust me, if you think your post was rambling please don’t ever read mine!

I’m T2 so my experience is different but I’m sure that some of the T1 and libre users will be along in a bit to say Hi.

Meanwhile, you said you have some difficulty controlling things at the moment. Could you share any BG levels or anything which is proving difficult for you?
No worries if not!

Welcome to the forum @Fizz88

Glad you have de-lurked 🙂

And well done on your new push to try to get your diabetes to behave itself, it can be a fickle and frustrating tyrant at times can’t it?

Glad you have access to Freestyle Libre2 to help you see what’s going on with your levels in more detail. Hope you aren’t finding that too overwhelming! It can be tempting to react to every wobble on the graph, and you can end up chasing your tail if you aren’t careful… but conversely all that extra information can really help you act early and make small tweaks to head off bigger problems later.

Have you ever been on a course to help you understand intensive diabetes management strategies? And how to cope with extra variables like stress, illness, alcohol etc?

DAFNE and BERTIE are two well known ones - These are available online if there are none running in your area.

Welcome to the forum @Fizz88 . Glad that you have joined us.
There is wealth of experience to tap into on here. Just ask any questions that you have.

It is great that you are wanting to improve your management. Perhaps start with one thing at a time.

I found that the Libre caused a bit of overload for me at first, but I got round that by limiting my reviews to once a fortnight when I switched sensors, in order to make any changes to basal/Bolus rates. Apart from that the main thing I learnt was timing my bolus before meals to reduce the big spikes I had.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
