Relationship to Diabetes

Hi, I'm a Type 1 of 23 years and have just started looking for a wider circle of support and advice! This forum seems like a great place, so I thought I'd take the plunge!
 
Welcome aboard- we are quite a friendly bunch- 23yrs phew! my son is 16 and dx for over a year[ although seems alot longer] nice part of the country St Austell
 
Hi Austellian, welcome to the forum 🙂 How have things been for you over the years? What insulin regime are you on?
 
Thanks for the welcome both. I was diagnosed at 15 and had a rough few years, but I'm pretty much on top of things now. I'm on MDIs of Novorapid and Levemir, but have been angling for a pump for a couple of years. Unfortunately my Consultant is quite resistant!

Have you tried contacting INPUT ( http://www.input.me.uk/ ) - they are excellent at helping people to get pumps! 🙂
 
Hi & welcome. A nice part of the world, i was british national champ in pentwan sands, mevagissy bay in the 80s on my catamaran(not far from you). Ice cream down there very good ! 😎
 
Thanks for the link Northerner. It's my annual review next Tuesday, so I'll have another go.

Impressive stuff HOBIE! Pentewan is a great place. Despite being very nearby, there always seems to be better weather over there!

Hmmmm - we might know a couple of T1's in roughly your neck of the woods Austellian!

One pumps and the other has just started their walk along the pump trail !

Which hospital do you go to?
 
Hi trophywench. I go to Treliske - also the hospital of my birth!
 
Hi and welcome to this site, the people on here are very nice and full of good advice, help me loads. Good luck with getting the pump and keep us updated.
 
Not sure if the pump clinic is held at Treliske, or Truro? Ain't at Penzance anyway LOL - eyes are at Treliske though, I do know that !
 
The pump clinic is at the Diabetic Education Centre behind Treliske hospital. Free parking as well - result!

Hello and welcome, snap, I am also Type 1 for 23 years, 24th year this summer. We could be twins 🙂

Hi Sheena. Diabetes is a real scream isn't it? I've managed this far without any complications - hope you're doing OK too.

hmmmm well, lots of bits and pieces have been going on in the past 18 months or so and still continuing.....................
