Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi

My name is Takwa, I am 24 years old. 2 months ago I felt very angry, annoyed and tired I drink 7L of water and I used to go a lot and I mean allllot to the bathroom. I discovered that I have diabetes, and my total sugar level in the body was 14 which is a lot. Actually, I did not feel sad cause I accepted this to happen soon since I am 24 and I am over 120 kg. But I don't want to die now and I really want to have a good time in my life. I joined this community so I can be motivated and make my sugar level under control and lose some weight. I am looking forward to this. Please wish me luck.

Hi Takwa, welcome to the forum.

It can be very frustrating when getting a diabetes diagnosis but you're not alone.

You're in the right place so do have a look around the site for insight into managing things. It might be worth having a read of this page which goes through the basics https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/managing-your-diabetes/testing.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns and we'll be happy to help.

I hope you have had a chance to read through the link above. You do seem to be drinking a lot of water, if this is because you are thirsty then yes this could indicate your blood glucose is high. Drinking too much water can upset the balance of electrolytes so you should be careful of that.
If you know what your HbA1C is and if you have been given any medication that information would enable people to give you some suggestions to help. What sort of thing would you eat on a typical day?

Hello and welcome. 🙂

Welcome to the forum @Takwa

What is the healthcare system like in Jordan? Do you have free access to regular annual checks like we do in the UK? Or do you have to pay privately?

Hope you find the forum helpful 🙂

Well in my situation I have a check-up every 3 months along with the medicine, tests, and insulin, and whatever it takes for free. Because I have insurance as a public employee, but in Jordan, if you don't have public, military, or insurance you have to pay everything which is quite expensive I guess. Yes, it does help a lot, thanks.

Hi. I have diabetes type 2. I am taking Mix insulin 3 times in the day 45 unit. 15 with breakfast, 20 with lunch, and 10 with dinner.
will Food in the Arab world consist of bread and rice most of the time, that is a problem for me to reduce the number of carbohydrates and stick with what I have to eat.
basically, my main problem is that I really would die to eat chocolate during the day !! I don't know why I was not a big fan of chocolate before being diagnosed but now I am crazy about it. p.s I even tried the no sugar chocolate but it is not working!

Hi, Takwa. Welcome to the Forum. When you say you 'discovered' you had diabetes was this because you went to your doctor and had the necessary diagnostic tests?

Martin
Yes, I did, I went to the diabetes center and my hba1c test result was 14%. they gave me insulin and metformin.
