Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello hello everyone, I just joined the forum so this is all new for me! I am so glad I came across this page, I have been looking around at everyone else's posts and there is so much support and valuable information.

A bit about me: I have had Type 1 Diabetes for 16 years now (diagnosed when I was 6) and currently am managing it with the help from my insulin pump. I still struggle sometimes with feeling out of control, but have always found support through others going through the same issues as well as my doctors. I am also currently studying food and nutrition at university which I found a love for through being diagnosed with diabetes!

I can't wait to interact with you all more and continue learning 🙂

Hi Hannah, welcome to the forum 🙂 I look forward to hearing more from you - please let us know if we can help in any way 🙂

Welcome to the forum Hannah.

Hi Hannah and welcome.
Sounds like a great course! Hopefully we will learn some interesting recipes from you.
How are you managing with your pump? Do you like it? When you say you struggle with feeling out of control, is that diet wise ie you are tempted to eat naughty stuff sometimes or your diabetes is erratic and the diabetes fairy doesn't always play nicely.
I look forward to hearing more about you.

Hi Barbara,
My pump has actually helped me a lot! About a year ago I switched to the Medtronic 670G insulin pump and it has been really really helpful. I also wear the continuous glucometer along with it. Mostly just diabetes being erratic at times, sometimes things that work one day don't work the same the next week haha. BUT I have found a lot of help through changing my diet to pretty low carb so I'm slowly bringing my numbers down.
Thanks for your reply it's great hearing from you!

Hi Hannah. Welcome to the gang 🙂

Hi @Hannah.amelia Welcome to the forum.
It will be good to hear your input, with experience through childhood and into adulthood.

The MM670 is one that I am considering on the next change in Feb, but I think the need to self fund sensors full time will be the killer for me. I already have the Libre on prescription so I am more likely to focus on making maximum use of the data from those, along with a pump.

I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Welcome , can’t offer advice to a T1 but welcome...

I recommend trying it out if you can! I love that the sensors connect directly to the pump so that it automatically adjusts my basal rates. That's great though if the libre already works well for you.

Thank Hannah I certainly would if 8 got funded.
It is a question of HAVING to fund sensors all the time. Without them the 670 does not have the same facilities as other pumps. It also does not allow people to extend the sensors. It may be that in four years time the position will change, as with the Libre over th last two years.

Hi and welcome. 🙂
