Hi all I have been diagnosed with type2 three weeks ago so I'm very new to this site and how it works.
I'm on Metformin 500mg twice a day and Atorvastatin once a day.
I've had nothing interesting to eat in three weeks now, boring!!
My weight has only come down by 2 kilos, on the good side my blood glucose levels have dropped.

Welcome Terry, glad you found us☺. Two kilos sounds like a great start to me.

Hi Terry and welcome to the forum

Hi Terry, welcome to the group.

Congratulations on losing 2 kilos, great start.... Slow & steady is the way to go.

You may find the thread "What did you eat yesterday" interesting; we all have varied tastes, likes & dislikes along with our unique ways of controlling D.

Welcome to the forum, Terry Hemmings. Well done on weight loss - 2kg in 3 weeks is very sustainable.

Hi Terry, welcome. 2 kilos is a very good start, it's best to lose weight gradually rather than rapid.
Listen, we may like fresh air but we don't live on it.
Just to give you a few ideas
If you eat meat, all meat is fine, so are high meat content sausages and burgers, eggs cooked anyway you like, cheese, veg that grows above ground, mushrooms to name but a few , some nuts are low in carbs

Exersize is good, just going for a walk regularly will help you lose weight as well as getting better control of your BG (blood glucose) levels.

Feel free to ask questions

Hi Terry...still very early days yet...only three weeks!...I was diagnosed approximately six months ago and still getting my head around this Diabetes 'thing'...don't be so hard on yourself...started with the weight loss 2 kilos almost five pounds...great start...I tend to weigh myself in either pounds...or stones...find that's a better result for me...well sounds more productive than my losses in kilos...as for food...doesn't have to be boring plenty of advice here...recipes...suggestions...you'll be surprised at what you can eat...BG levels down too...overall seems you are working hard at managing your diabetes...ask whatever questions you need to...no judgement or disapproval here...its how I dealt with starting to control/manage my diabetes...also used a fantastic book...Type Two Diabetes The First Year by Gretchen Becker...she is type 2 and takes you through her first year month by month...would highly recommend it...do you test your blood glucose...great way to find out how different foods affect you...plenty of advice here in respect of testing...honestly it can/does get better...hard work initially...and you have to keep it up...eventually most of it will become automatic...be good to hear your progress...good luck.

Hi Guys
Thank you all for your kind words and support.
Having been recently diagnosed with diabetes it has turned my way of life upside down and aspects of it I'm finding difficult to sort out.
I've tried to find diabetes groups so I could go along and talk to other sufferers but they all seem to be at 10:00hrs in the morning. Does anybody know of any groups a hard working man could attend??
Kind regards
Terry
