Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello everyone,

I thought I should introduce myself, I'm not new to Diabetes, I've been type 2 diet controlled for ten years but recently my levels have shot up.
I was put onto medication (tablets) five months ago but nothing agrees with my stomach, my GP decided it would be better for my stomach to put me on Byetta, he sent me to see a Diabetic Specialist and I saw him last Monday, he thought Byetta would'nt be any good to me because that can also upset the stomach, so as of next Monday I go on to a low dose of Insulin (Novomix) twice daily, I can't say I'm looking forward to it but I guess I'll get used to it given time.

Jo.

Hello Steffie,

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I was up for trying the Byetta, specially when I found out the Insulin will affect my driving licence and insurance but the specialist seemed to think it wouldn't be any good for me.

I'm sure I will have loads of questions after next Monday 🙂

I see we are neighbours, I live on the south side of the Tyne.

Hi thats good to know hun. theres often northern meets on the forum so when if you feel you are able you should think of coming to one.

Hi and welcome!

dont worry to much about driving license. yes you will have to send it back and you will be sent a restricted one. You will be ok so long as you look after yourself, eye tests etc.

At the end of the day your health is more important and if you need insulin, then you will be better off than having bad levels. good luck

I had a good look on the forum last night re driving licence's, I felt a lot better about it after I had read a few posts, this type of forum is brilliant for finding reasurance on such matters.

You have reminded me I need to re book my eye test , my DH was diagnosed with cancer the day I should have had it, thank you for the reasurance Tracey, I do appreciate it.
