Hi
Wanted to say a quick hello, I’ve read a few posts and love the help and support you all give each other.
I have been up and down with type 2 since 2000 and managed to lower my Hba1c with diet and exercise a couple of times but then end up forgetting myself and it yo-yos back up.
My test result in Oct 2023 was 55mmol then April 2024 it was up to 61mmol
I’ve always strongly been against going on meds as I have been able to reduce it in the past but this time the nurse and I have agreed that if I don’t get the test result back under 55 I will be put on medication. So today is the day of my blood test and I am anxious to see if all my hard work and effort over the last 3 months has worked. Regardless of what I’ve managed to achieve I wanted to join here because I finally realise I need to continue past the 3 months and make changes for life, for which I will probably need support! Hopefully I can update with a positive result in a couple of days.
Thanks x

Hope your efforts have shown improvements. Whatever the outcome, the community is here to support you.

Keeping fingers crossed for you for a good result but you are right, having regular support and accountability and perhaps meal suggestions to help encourage you to maintain whatever strategy you follow, is really helpful and the forum can certainly provide that and may be why we have a high percentage of members who are successful at achieving remission or maintaining stable results.
Good luck!

Welcome to the forum, I hope your results are good.
As you've correctly identified, it's best to end the yo-yo'ing and settle on a lifestyle change that suits you. Bad days (or weeks) will happen, all that matters is if you fall off the wagon you hop back on it.

Hello there @Astar ,welcome to the forum and here's hoping your results come out good.

I hope you get a result that shows improvement but take this opportunity to get a plan which will be both enjoyable and sustainable.

Update - My result came back quickly and it’s 56mmol so I’m off to see the nurse in a couple of weeks to discuss the next steps. So I’ve dropped from 61 to 56 in 3 months, and that’s being 75% good also managed to lose 12 pounds so I’m pleased with the result but still a bit disappointed that I didn’t make it to the agreed 55!

This is great progress nonetheless! I'm glad that you're pleased overall. You've almost lost a stone too so that's amazing. Well done @Astar!
