Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Diagnosed as type 2 diabetes only three weeks ago and feeling stressed about it. I admit I am overweight and unfit and maybe my lifestyle didn’t help. I used to be active walking everyday, but I stopped in 2007 due to a some trauma, that led me to fear going out on my own for a while and my walking never recovered, due to me losing muscle mass when I stopped.

Food has been a big part of my life since I was a child and ordering an Indian take away was my biggest treat. I now feel despondent because I feel I have to give up ordering in. Just Eat shareholders may never recover ☺️.

I’m Simon living in Stavely near Chesterfield in Derbyshire 46 years old newly diagnosed. A good thing is that I began to watch my weight in June and have slowly begun making changes to lose weight and get fit.

It does come as a bit of a shock but it is important to take it seriously and make some dietary changes, however there are many filling tasty meals you an still have as long as you are careful with your choices. Indian meals are not too bad as there are lots of tikka, tandoori and vegetable side dishes as long as you go easy on the rice and breads and anything with potatoes in.
Have a look at this link and you will see there are lots of options for low carb meals. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Thanks for the advice

Welcome to the forum @CedrictheDragon 🙂

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis with diabetes, but great to hear about the positive changes you’ve already been making, and the weight you have lost.

We had a thread recently where people were sharing their strategies with things like takeaways. There might be something in there to lift your despondency?

Here it is in case it helps?

You may yet find a way to eat out and choose takeaway options which satisfy you and also suit your diabetes?
