Welcome to the forum
If you enjoy cooking then the recipes both sweet and savoury on sugarfreelondoner web site are low carb.
The Diabetes weight loss cook book by Caldesi, Low Carb revolution by Annie Bell, Keto Kitchen by Monya Palmer are all good or just look on the internet for low carb or keto recipes.
There are many foods which are not high carb, meat, fish, cheese, dairy, eggs, non starchy veg, salads, fruit like berries which can form the basis of meals with small portions of any high carb foods, or find substitutes which are lower carb.
Have a look at this link for ideas. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/

Its over whelming when you first get diagnosed. Your DN or GP should enrol you on a day course for type 2 and make you an appointment for diabetic eye test at the hospital. You get one every 1-2 years to check that the diabetes isnt causing damage to the eyes. White carbs are the worst culprits think pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, cakes, biscuits etc. Sometimes just by going low carb you can drop your numbers a lot. Berries are good but best eaten with or straight after a meal as this stops a big spike. Drink water, herbal teas, try moving after eating as exercise can drop your levels over time. Jason Fung on youtube has some excellent videos to help you understand it more. I joined the NHS low carb programme , it cost 70.00 a year but I have found it so helpful. You get zoom meetups twice a week with a group of other type 2s led by a health coach, there are articles, food lists, recipes, food diaries, discussion forum, exercise videos and much more. Cheaper than buying lots of different books etc.

Welcome to the forum @Claire40

Sorry to hear you are struggling :(

And you are right! As soon as you start looking looking at the standard western diet, and the way supermarkets, food outlets, cafes, service stations etc present their wares it can. feel like everything is carbs carbs carbs, with a side of carbs!

There’s a thread on the forum where members share the meals they have been eating that you might find gives you some inspiration

Alternatively, you might find some helpful pointers in the Diabetes UK low carb meal plan

Hope you find a way of eating that suits you 🙂
