Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi

I’m 41 and been diagnosed with type 2 for about 3 years now.

I am lucky enough have controlled the condition through diet alone all this time, mainly due to the fact the medication made it almost impossible for me to leave the house because it made me so poorly, but over the last 8 weeks I seem to have lost control of it (through my own negligence I must say so not looking for sympathy lol) and now I am struggling with a mish mash of symptoms I have never experience before; extreme tiredness, thirst, weeing all night long and the itching is driving me insane (my poor legs are a mess!).

I let my yearly checks lapse but have a follow up with the nurse after bloods tomorrow and I’m dreading it, I really don’t want to go back on medication again

Hi Carly, welcome to the forum 🙂 Try not to worry too much about your appointment, you've made a good move by finding out where you stand with things and they may not suggest medication. It sounds to me like you are pretty aware of where you have started to go wrong, so hopefully by putting those things right and getting back on track you won't need it. The lovely people here are full of ideas so if you have any questions or quandaries, please ask away! 🙂

Let us know how you get on at your appointment 🙂

Hi CarlyM, Welcome. We can all fall off the wagon at times. We are a friendly bunch here who understand this and will try to support you in getting back on again.
Maybe the nurse will give you a chance to try again after all you've managed to do it before , maybe she could also suggest other meds that won't upset you.

Welcome! I have learnt you have to find what works for you and that you can maintain long term ! It is marathon and not a sprint!

Welcome to the forum Carly 🙂

Hi CarlyM. You obviously know what has to be done to get things back under control. Don't beat yourself up for your recent 'blip' and move on. As Grovesy says, it's a marathon and not a sprint.
