Hi everyone,

I have just joined this forum looking for some help & advice with the Guardian 4 sensors I've just started.

Let me introduce myself first though. My name is Samantha & I'm from Somerset. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 15 months old, nearly 48 years ago now. Boy have I seen some changes in that time. Sometimes I wish I'd kept all my equipment from when I was first diagnosed.

I've been using the Medtronic insulin pumps now for a few years and upgraded to the 780 just over a year ago. I am now being funded for the Guardian 4 sensors, been using them for just a few days, and so far so good but have a few questions I will need help with.

Thanks, everyone.

Hi and welcome.

I will tag Sue @SB2015 who is using the Medtronic 780 with Guardian 4 sensors and hopefully she will be able to help with any queries you have.

Welcome to the forum @SamanthaLucy

Well done on your 48 years! Nearly time for a Nabarro Medal :D

@SB2015 began a thread where people could share experiences of MM780G and sensors, which might have some interesting snippets?

Hi Samantha

I am using the same system as you and have been doing so for three years now. I upgraded to the Guardian 4 sensor. Any questions fire away, and do look at the 780 users thread that Mike mentione.

Thank-you @everydayupsanddowns

To be honest I had to look up what the Nabarro Medal was as I've never heard of it 😳
but yeah, I'm nearly there.

Thanks for the link too.

Thanks @SB2015

The only other concern I'm having at the moment is that I feel my sensor readings are a little too low come mid-morning. They are running at 3.9 - 4.1 I know the pump & sensor will automatically do its thing to prevent a hypo but I'd feel more comfortable if my readings were just a fraction higher. I will look at my morning carb ratio & see if that needs tweaking.

Hi and welcome @SamanthaLucy glad you’ve joined us

Well done on your 48 years of Type 1

I can clearly remember throwing my Autolet ‘guillotine’ finger destroyer away & a box of yellow Autolet lancets with the little platforms that stopped the lancet going too far into the finger! I really wish I’d kept them to look back on fondly! 😳

Thanks @SB2015

What have you got as your target levelThere are three choices and if you are getting hypos you could raise it to the next one up. I did that a while and still do if I change medications.

Thank you for this info. I am also in Somerset and it prompted me to ask again whether I could get funded sensors. They said YES!!!!!!! It will take some time to set up but it is in hand. So pleased after three years of self funding.

That's great news @SB2015
I'm assuming you are under Musgrove Park Hospital?
