Reminds me of when they stripped out our old kitchen. It was astonishing to see the state of things behind all those kitchen units. Hope it all proceeds according to plan for you.

It has to get worse before it gets better. One mistake we made was not ensuring the stop taps for the water were easily accessible so it's a real pain if we need to switch off the water for any reason.

Our mains stop tap is so stiff (our plumber told us that's quite common) that it would be easier to turn the water off from outside should we have to.

I think ours is easy to get at hubby has to do a bit of plumbing as there is a leak which he found last night, at the moment he has put our old fridge freezer in the hall, as its a plumbed one he has rigged it up so we can use water from the fridge if that makes sense, that's being collected on Thursday the new one and cooker comes tomorrow we won't have a sink until Thursday the nightmare continues

Ours is a shared supply to four houses so it would turn everyone off. Severn Trent were supposed to be separating the supply but decided they couldn't do it for 'technical' reasons.

Oh crikey, you have my sympathies. I lived in a building site for four months and it isn't fun. To be fair, my builders were very good and I had a makeshift kitchen in the dining room, could still always access water and never lost power despite also having the house re-wired at the same time. There was one morning, which was the big power 'switch on' where the power was totally off for a few hours.

I keep thinking I need my bathroom doing but keep putting that trauma off

the floor is almost done and after a lot of agro they managed managed to get the new fridge freezer and the cooker in we had to take the doors off gas man coming tomorrow to move pipes and connect the cooker.

Wow it's going to be one smart kitchen when done. Are you having a get together when done if so can I book my ticket now lol Enjoy it
Gail xxxxx

Good to see it starting to come together! Always such an upheaval getting a kitchen done, but it’ll be worth it in the end :care:

Our friend has just had their kitchen done and it was a 3 month nightmare, but well worth it in the end.

Keep posting the pics and of course the final finish

I hope it won't be that long you should see our dinning room and living room there full of flat pack Ikea boxes and work tops the sink and all the other appliances.

That reminds me of when our kitchen was done. We had to sit round the dining table because all the boxes were stacked in front of our sofas.😱o_O It did look nice when it was finished though.:D

One new kitchen done by professionals. Wall tiling and floor covering ditto. One full day and separate half day inconvenience.

Second one done mostly by OH. Sorry luv - major inconvenience. Bathroon - deliberately avoided doing it for a number of years but eventually couldn't stand it any more and had to bite the bullet - more major inconvenience. Yes, the professionals do cost more, but ......

another days work hubby has knocked off now, daughter and boyfriend tired out there working at 6am tomorrow, cooker in place one of the lower base units almost done our cat loves it, dishwasher plumbed in the other side of the kitchen as is the tumble dryer and washing machine no units there as yet, but we can wash all the pots now and at least the boxes that were in the living room are now in the kitchen

Our next door neighbour's cat liked our corner cupboard, as does eldest daughter's, her's. But whatever furniture etc you have new, your cat absolutely must thoroughly inspect it and decide if it gets the seal of approval. Always hope whatever does get the rubber stamp; otherwise will he scratch or chew it?

Yes, our cat Betty inspects every new bit of furniture plus all the packaging. We call it the CatScan. Here she is inspecting the boxes our flat pack chicken coop arrived in after we discovered we were missing a handle.20240512_171621.jpg

When we had the kitchen renovated, we had a stop tap put on just after the main stop tap so that we could switch the water off rather than break a wrist trying to turn off the original stop tap. Safest for if we are away for more than a couple of days.
