My name is Steve aged 67 and have type2 diabetes. Looking forward to chatting to a few like minded people
Welcome to the forum, would you like to say a bit about your situation, how long have you been diagnosed, what your HbA1C is and how you manage your condition, medication and /or diet.
Have a look around the forum, there are people with lots of different experience to tap into for information or tips.

Hi and welcome from me too.

Sorry to hear you need advice on neuropathy treatment. The drugs I have heard mentioned are Gabapentin and ...... I'm having a senior moment and can't recall the other one right now.... hopefully someone else will fill in the blank if it doesn't come to me...

One of the best things you can do if you have neuropathy is to manage your BG levels as well as possible and try to keep them stable. Do you take any medication for your diabetes. I am guessing you have probably been diagnosed quite a while if you are suffering with neuropathy? Do you monitor your BG levels at home?

Pregabalin is the other one I believe....

Welcome to the forum @steve71567007

Sorry to hear about your painful neuropathy :(

Is that something fairly new for you? Or something that you have been living with for a while?

There are a few threads from members here who mention neuropathy which you could take a look at

Neuropathy is not uncommon after living with diabetes for a while, and as @rebrascora says, one of the triggers for pain seems to be high or erratic blood glucose levels that are changing rapidly. So keeping your levels as steady and in range as you can is helpful - though obviously this can be easier said than done!

I have half a feeling I’ve also seen amytriptylene mentioned in connection with neuropathy pain, but my memory is a bit fuzzy on that, so may be wrong.

Some members have had success by using a TENS machine to block the pain signals from nerves, though others find it ineffective or just don’t like the sensation.

I’ll make a small change to your thread title to hopefully catch the eye of anyone with experience to offer their thoughts.
