Xultophy will help lower blood glucose in Type 2 diabetes patients in combination with oral glucose-lowering drugs
A new treatment which could help thousands of people with Type 2 diabetes has been approved for use on the NHS in Wales.
The All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG), which gives advice on medicines management and prescribing, has accepted insulin Xultophy as a treatment option.
The once-daily injection will help lower blood glucose in Type 2 diabetes patients – in combination with oral glucose-lowering drugs – when these alone, or combined with basal insulin, do not provide adequate glycaemic control.

Xultophy is a combination of Tresiba and Victoza, both from novo nordisk.
