Hi everyone,
I am now taking Metformin... not what I wanted but its where I am.
I did know a couple of years ago i was prediabetic but they didnt give me anything but then a lot happened in my life a lot of loss and well it was one of those things that fell to the way side.

So a question I have is... Metformin, what happens if you take it without food. I am not used to eating breakfast and tend to forget to bring some stuff work. i know i need to get better at remembering this now but wondered if there was something bad that could happen if I didnt take it with food.

Nothing happens. You might get a bit of an upset stomach if you get side effects, but you could take it at lunchtime instead of breakfast time. How many are you taking a day?

Chances are, like Lucyr says, nothing will happen. Take it when most convenient. If you turn out to be one of the few that does get a reaction to low doses of metformin (and you will know about it!) then try taking it with food - say with your evening meal.

Thanks, I took it this morning without food so lets see what happens.
There is a lot to get my head around and I am not scared to admit that I am feel overwhelmed by it all.

I have my first diabetic appt with a nurse tomorrow to discuss diet etc.

I have noticed that I am a lot more tired, I nearly fell asleep in a meeting at work on Friday.

I used to fall asleep in meetings through boredom. Trick is to do it but keep your eyes open!
