I can't think of anyone that wouldn't trade you for those numbers.
However, if you are concerned, book yourself in with your doctor.
I suspect it'll all be good. 🙂

Probably not.

Consumer devices aren't accurate enough to be used for diagnosis. Your 5.8 maybe be a 5.0.

Also, glucose production, insulin sensitivity and beta cell activity changes during the day based on hormones and the circadian rhythm and this can cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate slightly.

A lot of US websites state it :

And the other diabetes site:

But I doubt they mean using a reading from a consumer device.

Ooh ok so home tests not Same as dr blood test

No. Labs will use much more accurate devices.
Consumer devices can vary from a lab result by quite an amount.

Plus things like stress can increase BG.

Thankyou for your replies just checked again 2 hours after main meal 6.1

In the UK they do not use fingerprick tests to diagnose diabetes since meters are not actually 100% accurate, allowed to give results within a tolerance of 10% ish hence that 5.8% reading could really be anything between 5.2 ish and 6.4 ish - whereas a vial of blood taken from a vein in the arm and sent off to the lab to be tested on properly and regularly calibrated test machinery, will produce a correct result. These are not even reported in percentages in the UK either - but they do not rely on ONE such blood test - the same test needs to be repeated another day, to ensure what the person is diagnosed with, is correct.

If you happened to have been ill with something else or eg broke a bone recently before the time of the first test, well that one could be a one-off rogue result that shouldn't be wholly relied on. It's nowhere near as simple as a quick fingerprick!

Welcome to the forum @Timso

Sorry to hear you've been feeling anxious about your levels.

From what you've said, it doesn't look like the changes you've spotted in your urination have anything to do with your glucose levels (that doesn't usually happen until you are above the 'renal threshold' at around 10mmol/L), but if you've noticed changes it would be worth booking an appointment with your GP to discuss your worries with them?

Ooh ok so u don’t think it’s pre diabetic , my level dropped after breakfast to 4.5 after main meal was 6.1 then fasted again last night was back to 5.2 this morning

Those are all normal but you can’t diagnose or rule out diabetes based on home readings so you need to speak to your GP
