Hi Cally, welcome to the forum 🙂 That is quite a high HbA1c (ideally, you'd want it to be 6.5% of below - how did your diagnosis come about? Have you been given any medication?

The good news about diabetes is that it can be managed well, so it doesn't have to have a negative impact on your life 🙂 I would suggest starting by reading Maggie Davey's letter - that will give you a lot of good information about how you can set about tackling it and getting things under better control 🙂 I'd also suggest getting a copy of the excellent Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, which many of our members have found very helpful and positive over many years 🙂

Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have and we will be very happy to help! 🙂
