Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, first time on this site. I've been diabetic type 1 for 42 years. Been seeing a diabetic nurse regularly for the last 6 months and she has helped so much. HB1Ic has dropped from 7.1 to 5.5 and high and low readings are much less frequent. Struggle a bit because I do not exercise every day but roughly on alternative days. The exercise is quite intense and involves about 90 minutes of 5 a side or 2 - 3 hours hard cycling and this requires close scrutiny of food in and glucose readings. Ant

Thanks. Me and my dr are still very confused with the last one as my daily readings are still high and usually always in double figures. Next one due in october so we shall see what happens then.

Do you have many hypos? I find that the HBA1c averages out to a reasonable reading if you have many hypos to offset the high readings.

Wecome from a T2 who's working and their exercise.

Hi Ant. I've just joined the forum today too.
I have had type 1 for 45 years so have probably had lots of the same experiences that you have. I'm struggling just now as my hypo awareness symptoms are nearly non existent. My blood readinga are often very low which in turn makes me eat more which in turn meas I'm putting on weight! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Anyway, I'll check in now and again to see what everyone's saying - it's all new to me!

Nope, no hypos, most days I'm lucky if I get below 9!
