Metformin is known for causing stomach problems in some people but it can often settle down after a few weeks, it helps if taken mid meal. If it continues and you are not on the slow release version you could ask for that as people tolerate it better.
Some people report getting a metallic taste.
Depending on what your HbA1C is then many do find they can reduce blood glucose by making significant dietary changes by reducing carbohydrates. Even with metformin you need to do that anyway.
Have a look at this link for some ideas for modifying your diet. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
How did you come to be diagnosed and what is your HbA1C as that will indicate how much work you will need to do and it will help people make some suggestions.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

If you have also made some substantial changes to your diet in reducing carbs then your blood glucose may have dropped quite quickly and that can cause weird feelings as your body is getting used to lower levels.
The effects of metformin are usually diarrhoea, nausea, bloating and excessive wind, not pleasant.
Make sure you stay well hydrated as cutting carbs will often cause weight loss which is mainly fluid initially
Don't forget a low carb diet is not a NO carb one, though you do sound to be still having a fair few carbs with the bread, breakfast cereal and oats.

Given your weight loss, you may not need to take Metformin anymore. Have you had a recent test result and/or have you been measuring your fasting blood glucose?

I'm due my 2nd blood test on June 7th 2024 had first one in Feb 29thst 2023 and results came back wich I was told was 7th March 2023 saying type 2 d however I felt absolutely fine in myself so I reluctantly took meds wich I havnt felt good at all in myself out of sync ect I am going to call Dr and ask to be put on slow releasing metformin and when get bloods in June results I am very confident it will have gone down and I can manage myself without meds and get back to living and not be pinned down by medication wich is putting me mentally emotionally physically out of sync

I've never been given no blood sugar test equipment when I asked dishes said she don't feel I need it and I don't know what my ac1 was either in first blood test and yett my Dr is not good as she doesn't listen she likes push medication with no reason to do so very frustrating

Unless you are on medication which has the potential for causing low blood glucose which metformin hasn't then GPs are under o obligation to prescribe blood glucose monitors and strips so many self fund as they are a useful tool in guiding your meal choices. Otherwise you are flying blind and have no idea if the measures you are taking are successful. It is a bit like driving your car without a speedometer it is only luck you are not exceeding the speed limit. A couple of monitor which are have the cheaper test strips are the GlucoNavii, TEE2 or Contour Blue which can be bought on line and are inexpensive.
You need to find out what your HbA1C is so you know where your starting point is, if only just into the diabetic zone of over 47mmol/mol then indeed you may not need the metformin as it is not suiting you, but if quite a way into the zone then yes initially you may need it. But people have managed to reduce their numbers even from a high level by diet only.

Do you take blood pressure medication? A low carb diet can reduce high blood pressure and if you are taking medication to lower your blood pressure then it can lower it too much, which could certainly make you feel strange and dizzy, so it might be worth getting your blood pressure checked and if necessary discussing a reduction in BP medication.

Yes on Monday I'm talk to Dr and let her know and I feel my bloods have gone down so much through intense diet change in 3 months and could be reason why feel the way I am

A friend was telling me yesterday that the statin she takes had been changed to a different supplier, same med, same dose and it had caused her blood pressure to drop. So you can't even rely on them being the same.

I'd discuss coming off Metformin. The NHS pathway to remission programme stops medication on day 1 and that aims for a similar weight loss to what you have achieved.

Question are u a Dr?? Plss

No one here can give you medical advice @floluv - we are all just sharing our own experiences of living with diabetes. I’m not sure we have any members with medical qualifications posting frequently at the moment, so it’s better to assume that any suggestions you receive come from people with no medical training at all 🙂

Congratulations on the weight you have lost! Hope your follow-up blood results reflect the effort you’ve been putting in 🙂
