PROPOSALS to sell off £1.2 billion of NHS services would be impossible to overturn – even if a new Government came to power after next year's general election.

Four Staffordshire clinical commissioning groups are putting cancer and end-of-life care out to tender in what has been described by critics as the 'biggest NHS privatisation' to date.

Labour's shadow health secretary Andy Burnham has called for the programme to be halted, accusing ministers of 'unpicking the NHS and selling it off to their friends in private health'.

At a public meeting called by protest group Cancer Not For Profit, health officials were accused of 'rushing' through the decision before next year's general election.
