2013 sees the launch of a Team Diabetes UK, an Elite cycling team based in the South West.
The team is headed up by Ian Rees, an Elite UK rider having Type 1 Diabetes for the last 12 years. Ian was ranked 7th in the UK during 2010.
The goal for the team is ?to fundraise on behalf of Diabetes UK, promote the awareness of diabetes and encouraging healthy living, through an elite cycling team?.
Ian Rees commented ?Having raced at an elite level for a number of years, I?m able to manage my sugar levels pretty well which has been important considering the amount of racing and training I do. I see many diabetics out there who struggle with this condition and my dream has been to help by promoting sports and healthy living?.
