Hello lovelies , I went and saw my new doctor this morning , oh my gosh she is absolutely amazing , she listened to me and my worries on everything, I asked for my habc1 test to be redone again to ease my mind and she actually said yes to it . She asked if I was on any medication and I said no , I’m doing this on exercise and diet but what I didn’t know was she said to focus on muscle aswell as weight loss , but mainly focus on muscle . Appranetly my bm (weight) is highish but she doesn’t want me to focus on the weight aim as that will stress me out more , but to focus on muscle. She is happy for me to be on low carb as long as it’s not low fat , I see the nurse next Friday to help me with low carb and checking the inside of me as that will tell how healthy I am on the inside and not the out (they have a special machine for this), (reading packages etc etc). she said once I get my bloods done this Friday and get the results and if I’m positive she will put me on metroform (sorry for spelling) until I see my specialist person who appranetly is one of the best ones and he will test me on both type 1 and 2 and appranetly there’s a third saying they don’t know which one I am or (doctors words or if I have it at all) and appranetly his wait time is very long. Also appranetly she said it’s common to be allergic to things and I said I think I’m allergic to kiwi fruit and she asked what do I get and I basically said a burning tongue and she said yup you are , so I don’t eat kiwi fruit anymore . She’s also going to help me with my mental health after all this too , cause appranetly depression , stress and anixety are genetic and that also causes diabetes also . My god I copped everything urgh. I asked how many carbs I should aim for and she said at least 1000 calaries a day ? Can someone tell me what that means ???? Also appranetly my nurse will teach me everything . And the metroform will only be taken at night but she said don’t stress we will go into more details when we cross the line .
Sorry for the long rant , but I’m over the moon I finally found a doctor who listens to me and doesn’t treat me like a kid .

I suspect that your doctor is so used to being asked about calories that she misheard you - though really no one can tell how many carbs a person can cope with, you need to test after eating to be sure.
Many type twos buy a meter and check how they respond to the carbs in their meals, at least to start with. Once the general trend becomes clear it is not so important.
I really recommend finding out how you react to Metformin before risking taking it at night. Some people have really violent gastric upsets. Not everyone, but if you do it isn't going to be pretty.

I think she misheard your “carbs” as calories too. But I’m very pleased you’ve found a doctor who listens and supports you. It makes all the difference.

I think she did mishear me , it’s all good I’ll ask my nurse when I see her next week and she will help me out with it , ah yes I understand that 🙂 . How would I find that out ? Or should I ask my doctor if I can do it during the day then do it at night to see how I would react to it ? Cause I did ask her what the side affects are and she said naesaur and diaherra but she said it isn’t bad enough or anything and doesn’t last long . I also told her I have ibs m - meaning I’m conspitated anyways and she also said the side affects shouldn’t do anything to it .

I think she also did aswell to be honest but as I said above I’ll ask my nurse everything . Is there any particular questions I should ask my nurse about ???? BecAuse I was planning to write up some to pick her brain just need some suggestions on what ones to ask/ important ones that I probably won’t think of . It really does I’m so happy with her and how she treats me . I feel like an adult and not some kid . I haven’t had the best of run ins with everything unfortnately .

Glad you‘ve found a Dr that you get on with better and who listens to you and treats you as an individual @Jacinta

That makes such a difference!
