Welcome to the forum
Many people think they are eating a healthy diet but many foods which would be healthy for people without Type 2 diabetes are not so when your body struggles to cope with carbohydrates.
Dietary changes usually enable people to reduce blood glucose and lose weight, one approach is to adopt a low carbohydrate approach. This link may help you with some ideas for modifying your diet.
Exercise will help but diet will have the biggest impact.

Hi @Kaz1 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling since being diagnosed. This news understandably can come as a shock and feel very challenging. This page on our website may be helpful when it comes to coping with a diabetes diagnosis - https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/emotions/coping-diagnosis

While diet is very important, there can be many other factors that contribute to increased blood sugar levels. This can be genetic factors, age, smoking, drinking, hormonal changes, stress, and many more.

We're glad you have reached out, and encourage you to continue to if you have any questions or want advice. I'm sure some other members will add on soon 🙂
