New diabetic, not sure type yet

I found out last Monday that I'm diabetic and have my first appointment with the diabetic nurse tomorrow. I was feeling really upset at the start of last week but now just looking forward to knowing and hopefully understanding more after my appointment tomorrow.
Welcome to the forum
I hope your appointment goes well but if you do a bit of reading to prepare you, the main DUK site has sections about the difference between Type 1 and Type 2.
I see you are 30 so it really depends on a number of factors as to which type you may be. Often GPs will assume Type 2 as they think Type 1 is only in children but not so, a friend was diagnosed at 80 so keep an open mind.

hi @katesypoop welcome to the forum
great that you found this fantastic resource so early on after your diagnosis, hope your appointment with the DSN goes well tomorrow

Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow @katesypoop

It’s perfectly natural to feel knocked sideways by a diagnosis with diabetes - so allow yourself time to adjust, and come to terms with things. Hopefully a little clarity over your diabetes type will help that process.

Let us know what they say 🙂

Hello @katesypoop 🙂 , I really hope that your appointment went well today and it would be good hear back from you. There are lots of members here with Type 1 and Type 2 so please do ask away with any questions you have as it can be really daunting at this stage.

Hi @katesypoop hope the appointment went well. I know it can sometimes be overwhelming just taking in all the information you receive from the nurse and others but stay calm and aware that these forums and the Diabetes UK website are great sources of information that can support you with understanding what you have been told.

No question is to silly.
