Welcome to the forum @Marti boyHi all just wanted to introduce myself...Martin
Looking forward to learning although I've been type 2 for 10yrs i feel I'm finally getting on top of it
Hi pal been type 2 for 10yrs actually got told I was more type1 about 6months ago. They increased my gliclazide to 2 aday as a last resort this failing was to get tested for type 1. Had blood results back last week HBA1C has really improved it came back 60 + which is better than previous 80+.but as she was giving me results my libre sensor was showing 44. So back in 3months to be tested again. So keeping hopeful I've turned a cornerHi and welcome mate. If you want to share a few more details? its always interesting to hear from other people and what their story/background is. Cheers.
Just keep us updated on your numbers bud.Hi @Marti boy and welcome to the forum - as previously mentioned I wouldn't pay too much attention to the guesstimate of HbA1c on the Libre (mine is usually quite a way out - currently says 40 but I know it's more (will get my latest test result next week) - I hope they get the diagnosis sorted a.s.a.p. - In the meantime fire away with any questions you may have - we're all here to help each other
Mike, sorry to ask: there used to be a pinned post about testing and numbers - what do they all mean [or similar phrasing]. I couldn't find it earlier today. Age seems to be defeating my powers of recall! Perhaps @Marti boy might find that useful. There was also somewhere else a related sort of question that I was going to point to, hence my earlier attempt to search. Misunderstandings about the "numbers" do seem to be relatively frequent; understandably really. Can you help please?Welcome to the forum @Marti boy
The estimated HbA1c suggested by Libre is based on a formula which matches pairs of HbA1c and average sensor glucose values in a sample population. It’s not really possible to convert mathematically from sensor glucose, because they are measuring different things - so it’s more of a general indication “people with your average sensor glucose value tend to get an HbA1c around here” than an actual result - if you see what I mean?
My Libre (and later Dexcom) suggestions were generally a bit lower than the lab test I eventually got. Hopefully your next Hba1c will be somewhere in between?

Thanks. My metaphorical scotoma from yesterday [a medical term for a blind spot or visual field abnormality]. Sometimes detectable in Politicians, but in their case intentional rather than a simple oversight. This one?
Can someone explain the numbers system to measure blood sugar levels please?
