Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Alan Shanley, an australian T2 well known on the diabetic support groups as Alan S, has published a book for type 2s called "What on Earth can I Eat".
It will likely become a must-have cult read.

Shanley's ideas are solid and down to earth, his blog is usually a good read as well focussing on the practical aspects of diet and exercise.

His book is available here ...
http://www.amazon.com/What-Earth-Ca...=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292527954&sr=1-2

Just checked the members list and Alan S is a member but has never posted.
May I suggest the Admin invites him onto here to talk about his new book ?

I think if he wanted to talk on here about his book he would be more then welcome to, he does not need an invitation by admin(not tthat im aware of)....We would all welcome him here and would be interested to hear about his book.

He probably registered on here several years ago at the start and has forgotten all about this group.
It can't be often that a member of this Support Group writes a book about diabetes, so we should probably be more pro-active in celebrating it.
Invite the lad over to talk about it.

Thanks. He joined in March 2009 but hasn't logged in since. I'll email him and see if he would like to discuss the book. 🙂

p.s. doesn't look like the book is available in the UK yet.

I can't find the book on Amazon.co.uk so it would be really useful to be able to ask him questions on here 😉

I note that one of the other commentators on this thread joined in 2009.
Is that merely a coincidence, or has he been frightened off?

Thanks for the kind words. Sue let me know about this topic. I appreciate the comments on the book and the blog.

My only reason for lack of activity here has been lack of time. I am also involved with several other forums in the UK and US and that takes up much of my time, apart from writing the blogs (there is also a travel blog) and the book. However, I'll try to stay in touch more after I browse through the forum to catch up on the current discussions.

G'day Steffie

I hope it will eventually appear on Amazon.co.uk, but for the moment it is only available on Amazon.com

However, I've been informed that delivery isn't as expensive to the UK as it is to Oz, although I'm not sure how long it takes to be delivered. I know several people have bought it from the UK.

I'll try to spend a little time in the forum, but every forum is different so please let me know if I tread on any toes.

Hi Alan,

I ordered a book Eat The Greek Way by Dr Fedon Lindberg which is very good. I ordered it form the States and the delivery charges weren't too bad. I'm away to order your's now. Bearing in mind, I live in Norway, should be interesting how long it takes to get here.

Donna 🙂

It's something I intend looking into if it doesn't appear in other ways later on.

Thanks very much for your support and for raising the topic. However, the vibes I got on other threads suggest it may be wise to let this one quietly fade. In the interests of forum harmony I will not be responding further on this thread.
